We believe that creating the future the world wants, requires changing how the world grows.
Yasuteru Urano
Professor, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo
Live (live cell) imaging, which visualizes the state of living cells in vivo and the expression of genes and proteins with fluorescence has supported the progress of medical and biological research worldwide, including the practical application of cancer markers.
Prof. Urano has developed a number of fluorescent probe molecules based on his creative idea of intramolecular spiro cyclization and has brought them to practical (commercial) use. He leads the potential of live imaging technology for the development of bioscience with a focus on medicine and biology.
