We believe that creating the future the world wants, requires changing how the world grows.
Shoji TAKEUCHI
Professor, Department of Mechano-Informatics,
Graduate School of Information Science and Technology,
The University of Tokyo
The world's population is expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, and the amount of meat that humans consume is expected to increase 1.8 times the current level. Against this backdrop, research and investment in "cultured meat," or new meat products made by growing small amounts of cells taken from cattle and other animals outside the animal's body, is flourishing around the world.
Prof. Takeuchi is at the forefront of this field, researching the challenges and possibilities of cultured meat.
